Friends are cherished people whom we carry in our hearts wherever we go in life. We may spend a lot of time together, getting to know each other and sharing each other's lives But sometimes they have to move on to other places.

But no matter where we go in life We always remember the wonderful friends Who touched us deeply and left a mark in our hearts.

Hi Ron:

This is Tara (Studebaker) Spalla.  I  found your web site while I was
looking at mine (class of 80).

I am writing to tell you about my sister, Valerie Studebaker.  She was in
your graduating class of 1982.  Valerie died in July 1994 of
anorexia/bulemia.  She was 31 years old and left a husband and a little
boy.

Sincerely, Tara

Rose

Hi Ron,

Since there isn't much about Valerie on the site I thought I would share a story of how
she touched my life. You decide if you want it put on the website.

When I moved to Fairborn from Spain I was in the 7th grade. I was skinny and homely. I
didn't feel too good about myself for various reasons. I remember Valerie in the 7th
grade. She was pretty and very popular. I remember analyzing that very thing. "Why is
she so popular?" I thought about how she moved about with such confidence. And then I
thought about her self confidence. I realized that it was a circle.. she is popular
because she is confident and confident because she is popular.

It was from that day on that I "acted as if" and acted confident. I can't say
that I turned out "popular" but I felt better.

Unfortunately, she died and I won't be able to tell her how she affected my life, but I
only hope that I will have affected someone's life in a positive manner before I die.

I will always remember.

Dear Diane,

When I moved to Fairborn in the 5th grade Val was one of my best
friends if not my bestest friend. I remember feeling the same way as
you talked in your letter about her also. She helped me get to know
alot of people since I was new to the area. I remember going over to
her house all the time. We lived in the same apartments together and
played mostly at her house. I have very fond memories of her but
only regret that I had stayed in better contact with her. I know that
in her life she touched a lot in positive ways . I will always remember
her and her smile. ( she made me laugh, we laughed alot together)

That is what I remember most about Valerie.

Rhonda
